There is even a book by Lobsang Rampa with this name. Throughout history, countless pages have been written on this subject, but what does it mean, where is it located, what is its purpose?
The third eye is a multidimensional system of knowledge and existence. According to ancient Egyptians it is the seat of the soul, the principle point where the genetic truths of the spirit of the world are found. But let us begin at the beginning.
From the yogic conception, there are chakras, or wheels of light, aligned along the spine. They are our energetic windows to the world, and there is one, the sixth, which is located between both eyebrows, almost always one centimeter above them. This chakra, called “Ajna” is responsible, among other things, for our lucidity – the ability to see the truth wherever it is. Through the third eye we develop our capacity of comprehension and in quite perfected cases, the comprehension of invisible aspects of the world, such as those related to the spiritual realm. Some currents of esoteric study associate it with the Pineal Gland and attribute its functions to it, however, this tendency is still open to discussion and analysis.
A healthy and open third eye is a channel of free energetic flow between what we are and what there is, an access gate that links the different space-time dimensions. It is therefore our key to the truths of the past and the future, as well as to unknown and even unknowable points. However, our third eye is not always open, active, or healthy. Sometimes a thick gray cloud covers our vision and far from understanding, we find ourselves totally identified and involved with our circumstances and emotions, trying to understand by means of our small glimpses some truth, however partial it may be.
How can the third eye be activated?
To begin with, it is fundamental to start from the point of ignorance, that is, to recognize before ourselves that we do not know and do not see clearly, therefore, that we do not understand.
To be present, here and now, to ourselves and to our lives.
Water is a conductor and fluidizer by nature, therefore it is necessary to keep the organism well hydrated.
Drink a lot of water, not only when we feel thirsty.
Negative imagination, based on the fear of possible catastrophes or fatal outcomes (feasible or not), is an obstructor of the third eye. Creative visualization, on the contrary, is an activator. Therefore, fears must be replaced by positive and constructive active imagination exercises.
Judgment and prejudice is another obstructor of third eye vision. The more open a mind is, the more clearly it can understand and know.
Meditating in silence, putting a stop to the torrent of thoughts, opens a space so that the visions that arise from the third eye can be recognized.
Visualizing and, as far as possible, feeling a powerful light emerging from between the eyebrows, is a powerful activator of the faculties associated with this chakra.
Through psychoenergetic therapies of chakra activation.
